Who Has Received Funding From BPWA Inc:
• Darling Range Wildlife Shelter Inc. $70,000
BPWA Inc has funded DRWS's new marsupial treatment building. We have also bought pumps for use in their water ponds, shade sails, a water tank and other items for use at their new Milton premises. We also have have an ongoing commitment to providing funding for food and medical supplies
• The WA Geo-Referencing Project in association with the WA Community Reference Herbarium. ? $40,000
We have supported Mr John Weaver's innovative geo-referencing project with equipment to assist people in biological and mycological surveys. This equipment is housed at the WA Herbarium, for use by any environmentally-minded group. We have extended this project by funding the purchase of a research microscope, stereoscopes and other resources also to be housed at the Herbarium. Survey kits are also stationed in towns around the state including Kununurra, Mandurah, Albany, Geraldton and Northcliffe.
• Native Arc Animal Rehabilitation Centre Inc. ?$30,000
We have funded equipment including: hospital cages, transport cages, food and medication and fixtures for their new premises in Bibra Lake?. • Lark Hill Landcare and Regeneration ?$35,000
We have purchased a digger and other equipment to assist Mr Jeff Anderton's work ?in, amongst other things, replanting over 3000 grass trees displaced by the Mandurah Deviation. ? • Kimberley Toad Busters Inc. ?$105,000
The Kimberley Toad Busters is a community group that goes out and catch cane toads every weekend, by hand and in specially designed traps. The cages are fitted with a solar powered light which attracts insects and thus also the toads. Biodiversity Protection has provided $35,000 to build these traps for use in the north. We have also provided $20,000 worth of safety gear for the volunteers and $50,000 for the high costs incurred travelling in the outback.? • Black Cockatoo Rehabilitation Centre Inc. ?$130,000
We have funded the new avairies for arguably the most successful rehabilitators of Black Cockatoos in WA. They have successfully released over 100 rehabilitated Black Cockatoos into the wild. We also have provided ongoing support for the high costs of feeding these beautiful birds.
• Dieback Action Group Inc. ?$5,000
We have funded much needed equipment used to innoculate trees against the virulent dieback diease.
